"Its relaxed, secure atmosphere, comfortable rooms and great value make it popular with backpackers. It also has a large garden and terrace with views across the Cordillera Blanca."

The Huayhuash Circuit

Located 50 kilometres to the southeast of the Cordillera Blanca, the Cordillera Huayhuash is essentially a long serrated ridge, with seven peaks above 6,000 meters and some seven more above 5,500.
The range was made famous by Joe Simpson’s book Touching the Void and the subsequent film adaptation. The highest peak is Yerupajá (6,634 m), the second highest in Peru and the highest point in the massive Amazon watershed. The rest of the peaks are some of the most fearsome and foreboding anywhere in the world.
There’s a great 10- or 11-day circuit of the entire range, 160 or 190 kilometres depending on the route taken.
We regularly organise treks and climbs in the Huayhuash. Contact us for more information.
